The Vail Valley Charitable Fund is partnering with the Vail Recreation District for the Dynafit Summer Solstice Trail Run on June 22 at Beaver Creek. Racers can look forward to a race shirt and breakfast provided with the registration fee, plus a new silent auction.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the Vail Valley Charitable Fund.
“The Summer Solstice trail race came to fruition through a three-way partnership between the VRD, the Vail Valley Charitable Fund, and the Beaver Creek Resort Company over 15 years ago as a way to include Beaver Creek Resort in the trail running series while supporting a great organization that supports our community. It was a win-win-win then and continues to be now,” said Beth Jahnigen Pappas of the Vail Recreation District in a news release.
The Summer Solstice trail run is an adventure that coincides with the year’s longest day and has been a mainstay of the Vail Trail Running Series race. Beginning and ending on the lawn in front of the Beaver Creek Chophouse adjacent to the Centennial lift in the heart of Beaver Creek, the Summer Solstice sends runners through and around the resort community, offering breathtaking alpine views and a challenging course.
After an ascent through aspen groves on the appropriately named Aspen Glade trail, runners will traverse across Beaver Creek Mountain on Allie’s Way singletrack and descend the hillside and into the lawn of the Beaver Creek Chophouse. Participants will be treated to alpine views and fully stocked aid stations along the way. The event begins with a kid’s fun run. 10K racers experience approximately 1,330 feet of elevation gain; 5K racers experience approximately 800 feet of elevation gain.
