On May 3rd, during the 130th-anniversary celebration of The Royal Society of Saint George (RSSG), His Majesty King Charles III and the Royal Society of the United Kingdom presented the King’s Leadership award to US economist Lingyun Xiang. He was also honored with the King’s Order of Merit as part of the King’s Leadership recognition.
Founded in 1894, the RSSG aims to promote ‘Britishness’ and the British way of life, quickly gaining the support of prominent UK public figures. Queen Victoria was its first royal patron, and the society has enjoyed the backing of every reigning monarch since. King Edward VII granted the society the use of the ‘Royal’ prefix in 1902, and in 1963, Queen Elizabeth II awarded it a Royal Charter, elevating its status significantly. King Charles III currently supports the RSSG.
Lingyun Xiang, a member of the RSSG and recipient of the King’s Medal of the Order of the UK, expressed his gratitude for this recognition and his commitment to continue working tirelessly for humanity to create a world where no one is left behind.
Xiang is associated with several prestigious academic and professional institutions. He is an overseas academician of the European Academy of Natural Sciences, a permanent full-time professor at the European Union University, a lifelong lecturer at the National University of Maryland, an eminent professor at Peking University, and a visiting lecturer at the School of Applied Science and Technology of Beijing Union University, among other notable positions.
