Patrick Henry is the three-time reigning section champion. The Patriots beat Mira Mesa in the 2021 and ’22 finals and have won six titles. The Marauders are looking for their first section title. Badminton is a co-ed sport, with matches consisting of four boys singles matches, four girls singles, three boys doubles, three girls doubles and three mixed doubles. Henry is led by freshman Abby Taing, who is undefeated in girls singles. Mira Mesa is led by senior Bogdan Shamrai, who’s undefeated in boys singles. The Marauders upset No. 1 Canyon Hills in the semifinals 9-8. Henry beat Scripps Ranch 9-8 in the semifinals. Patrick Henry beat Mira twice this season, 10-7 and 9-8.
