A BRIEF HISTORY OF SIAM KEMPINSKI HOTEL BANGKOK
1920
Originally built as Sra Pathum Palace in 1920, the property hosted the royal wedding ceremony of HRH Prince Mahidol of Songkla and HRH Sri Nagarindra, grandparents of the current King, on September 10 of the same year.
1950
The palace witnessed another historic event with the royal wedding ceremony of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great (King Rama IX) and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on April 28, 1950.
1964
A portion of the palace grounds was leased to construct the iconic Siam Intercontinental Hotel, which became a local landmark. HRH the Late Princess Mother unveiled its foundation stone on December 11, 1964.
2000
With the expiration of the Siam Intercontinental Hotel’s lease in 2000, the property was redeveloped into the impressive Siam Paragon shopping mall and Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok.
2002 – Present
Conceptualized as a luxurious urban oasis, Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok opened its doors on September 27, 2010, blending architectural elegance, lush landscaping, and rich history into a singular experience.
