Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 2.15% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded positive around 10:04AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 6.38 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 5.98 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 2.89 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 2.76 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 1.7 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Exide Industries Ltd.(down 0.97 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.06 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 2.15 per cent at 22942.6 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 81.3 points at 22221.2, while the BSE Sensex was down 282.92 points at 73183.47.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, Manappuram Finance and IFCI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Kirloskar Elec, IRIS Business Servic, Ajooni Biotech Ltd., Commercial Engg and Timken India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Visagar Polytex, Shree Vasu Logistics, Stampede Cap, Mittal Life Style and Inventure Grwth hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
