A woman is dead after losing control on Algonquin Parkway and hitting a tree.

Police said the crash happened Thursday afternoon, around 1:20 pm., in the 1200 block.

Witnesses told police a woman driving west in an SUV was going at a "high rate of speed" when she lost control.
