Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.83% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded negative around 10:34AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.18 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(up 0.1 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.97 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.43 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.34 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.33 per cent) and Coforge Ltd.(down 1.21 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.83 per cent at 33057.0 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 154.96 points at 22147.55, while the BSE Sensex was down 501.91 points at 72964.48.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 13 were trading in the green, while 37 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, BEL and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Kirloskar Elec, IRIS Business Servic, Ajooni Biotech Ltd., Commercial Engg and Century Enka hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Lancor Holdings, Shree Vasu Logistics, Best Agrolife, Ibull Housing Fin(PP)and Popular Vehicles hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
