Yorktown girls’ lacrosse has bounced back to the top

After winning a state title in 2022, the Patriots struggled last season. Now, they’re back in contention.

It took just three games into the 2023 season for Yorktown Coach Jenny Tran to realize her team wasn’t going to repeat as Virginia Class 6 girls’ lacrosse champions.

The Patriots were facing Battlefield. The previous matchup between the teams came in the 2022 state final. Tran’s team won that game so handily the contest required a running clock. The rematch brought the opposite result. Yorktown, decimated by offseason departures, lost by 13 goals.
