MCSD Whiteboard: Thanks to great teachers and staff

Moffat County School District
MCSD Whiteboard

April and May happen to be the “National Day” for a bunch of school district folks. Feels like as good a time as any to appreciate our incredible people.

May 8 was School Nurse Day. What an awesome group of health techs we have at this district, led by our incredible district nurse. We’re so grateful for these ladies, who heal boo-boos and handle outbreaks. This has been a heck of a few years for these health heroes. This year was no exception. We’re so grateful for their skill and their great work. Thank you, health team.

May 7 was National Teacher Appreciation Day. How can we ever say enough about these marvelous teachers? The incredible skill, overwhelming passion and enormous work ethic they bring to their vital profession is hard to describe and harder to match. We cannot say enough about our gratitude for these educators who shepherd a community’s children through so many important moments of their youth. Thank you, teachers, for everything.

May 3 was School Lunch Hero Day. Our nutrition specialists are the best. They keep us moving, fueled and fed, making sure every child gets healthy, nutritious, delicious food. So much hard work is done every day by these skilled stalwarts, cooking and preparing, distributing and disinfecting. It’s usually behind the scenes, and it’s always important. Thank you, nutrition specialists.

May 1 was School Principal’s Day. These masters of mayhem deserve a ton of credit. Ultimately, the success of a school building rests on them. We are so grateful for our super talented building leaders. They run enormous organizations, look out for hundreds of kids, plan and plan again, and find answers where there are only questions every single day. Wow. Hard to fathom sometimes. Thank you, principals.

April 23 was School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. These incredible professionals are absolutely vital. They get hundreds of kids to school and home daily and they do it safely in spite of as many challenges as you can fill a school bus with. They also ensure our Bulldog teams and groups get to trips safely and ready to rock. The wheels on the school bus go round and round and it’s thanks to these stars.

April 4 was National School Librarian Day. These unheralded mavens of stories and information are few these days, but they keep our school libraries stocked and ready for readers. Thank you, librarians.

April 3 was paraprofessional day. Paras are the glue. They support teachers in so many ways, allowing every kid to get the attention he or she needs in the classroom. Paras hold hands, dry eyes, sit with and gently redirect. The help provide more individualized instruction where necessary. They make teaching more. Thank you, Paras.

April 1 was National IEP writing day. Good time to thank our Special Education teams for the enormous work they do for those of our kids who need the most help. What compassionate, talented people we have working on these plans and supporting our students. We’re so grateful for this small but mighty gang of good. They make sure our district’s first belief is true: that every student can learn. Thank you, IEP writers and supporters. We’re so grateful.

And finally, since we missed it, this goes back to March but the first of that month is Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day. These buildings might not be here without our maintenance teams. Wow, do they do important work? A huge part of the district’s profile is buildings and grounds. Caring for those properties is a huge job, and these folks do it really well. Thank you to these amazing skilled workers.

There are lots of other great groups of professionals who make Moffat County School District great. Technology, substitutes, custodial, finance, counseling, secretaries, social work, and surely some others we aren’t thinking of that we’ll sorely regret not mentioning. We thank you all. We are grateful to every one of you who keep the district strong and make it possible to help every child learn and thrive.
