CLOSE TO €3.7 million worth of herbal cannabis was seized yesterday in two separate intelligence-led operations in Dublin and Wexford.
The cannabis had a combined weight of 184 kilograms and a combined estimated value of €3.68 million.
The seizures were made yesterday in an operation involving both the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Revenue Customs Service.
In relation to the seizure in Wexford, a man in his 60s was arrested after the discovery of 139 kilograms of cannabis, with an estimated value of €2.78 million.
He is currently detained at a garda station in the south-eastern region.
In the second separate operation in Dublin, a man in his 50s was arrested following the seizure of 45 kilograms of cannabis worth an estimated €900,000.
He is currently being detained in a west Dublin garda station.
All drugs seized are now subject to further analysis and a garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
Separately, gardaí seized €117,400 worth of drugs and a firearm in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, yesterday.
Gardaí attached to the Finglas Drugs Unit conducted a search of a wasteland area and recovered suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €59,500.
Later the same day, they conducted a a second search of the same area. During this search, suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €52,500 as well as €5,400 worth of cannabis and a sawn off shotgun were recovered.
