Libby: Make Colorado Highway 82 safer

Lord knows I could write a letter about an election that will define our freedom and independence from an authoritarian dictator, but it would only fall on receptive ears here.

But what might be more important is making Colorado Highway 82 a safer road.

First, I cannot imagine I am the only one who wonders why road visibility is so bad, especially in inclement weather. The road is so poorly marked that it is easy to veer off.

Consider reflectors, median lights, and road surface materials that increase contrast, making it easier to find and stay in one’s lane. How about better drainage in the areas where rainwater accumulates and hydroplaning becomes a sport? While we are at it, why can’t we find ways to reduce the animal and human carnage on the highway? Wouldn’t wildlife crossings above or below the road with fences, lights, or other technology to deter animals be a better investment than bypassing the S-curve this summer?
