"I really love physical media and I believe that it has [an] energy. You want your books and your movies in your home." The iconic NYC video rental shop collection known as Kim's Video has been returned to Manhattan and can now be found in the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Lower Manhattan. Drafthouse has launched their own video store video series about "Kim's Video Collection" that's an American version of the iconic Vidéo Club videos by Konbini in Paris, France. This one features the acclaimed actor Paul Dano (who also lives in NYC) perusing the Kim's Video shelves and chatting about the films he finds, also growing up & going to video stores. He talks about being told not to watch Boogie Nights, appreciating Kurosawa & Fassbinder, and how the Sundance Film Festival changed his life. Not enough time with Paul! He's the best.

Thanks to YouTube for the tip on this. Their intro: "We're inviting our favorite actors and filmmakers to the legendary Kim's Video at Alamo NYC in the web series, Kim's Video Collection (via Alamo Drafthouse's YouTube). In the second episode, Paul Dano shares memories of renting hard-to-find videos at Kim's as a young actor, and watching Boogie Nights specifically because his dad told him not to." More of these videos, please! The first episode featured actress Chloë Sevigny visiting Kim's Video. This video store geek out series is created by Alex Ross Perry and Nick Prueher.
