Routt County high school athletics will be on full display this week with teams competing locally and across the state for postseason and regular season play.

Wednesday
The Steamboat Springs girls lacrosse team achieved the No. 15 ranking in the 4A classification for its state tournament. The team will host No. 18 Durango beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Gardner Field on Wednesday evening.

The Steamboat girls hold a 6-2 record at home this season while Durango sits 3-3 as the away team. The winner of the game will advance to play No. 2 Evergreen on the road Friday.

Adding to the Wednesday night schedule is the first round of the girls soccer playoffs, where No. 30 Steamboat Springs travel for a match against No. 3 Windsor at 6 p.m.

At 11-3-1 in the regular season, Windsor will be a challenging opponent, but the Sailors have the goal per game advantage at 2.8 to 2.5.

Thursday

Golf balls will fly at Steamboat Golf Club on Thursday morning for the girls golf team’s home tournament.

The girls have shown promising performances all season, with several top-five finishes from the team’s lone senior Catherine Larock. The round begins at 10 a.m.

On the court, four lines from the Steamboat girls tennis team will begin their three-day state championship tournament at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.

Leading the Sailors are seniors Evan Quinn and Kelsey Norland who became regional champions at No. 1 doubles last week. Joining them as a fellow regional champ was sophomore Lucia Del Haya at No. 1 singles.

Round two will be hosted at 5:30 p.m. at Gardner Field on Friday night. Should Steamboat advance, it will host the round three playoff game as well.

Steamboat, Hayden and Soroco’s track and field teams are all scheduled to compete at a meet in West Grand on Friday.

Saturday
