Q I’m told that my leadership style is ‘coaching’, and while that leads to a very happy workplace, I do wonder if it’s the best approach. Which of the main leadership styles do you think is the most effective?

A Leading isn’t easy. It’s a dynamic and multifaceted journey, demanding ongoing commitment and growth, regardless of our individual styles. What is particularly tough is that nobody ever sits us down and ‘teaches’ us what being a real leader entails. While there is plenty of literature available on the subject, I have found that genuine understanding of leadership comes from experiential learning, self-inquiry and observing effective leaders in action.
