Aspen School District returns to 8 a.m. start for all schools

The Aspen School District will return to a single-start schedule for the 2024-2025 school year.
All schools in the district will start classes at 8 a.m. beginning in the fall, the district announced Monday. It was a collaborative decision made after review by the instructional leadership team, operational leadership team, the Aspen Education Association, and the International Baccalaureate coordinators.
The change will increase annual instruction time to meet the instructional hour requirements of both the Colorado Department of Education and IB. It will also create a more consistent schedule for instruction opportunities between buildings.
In the 2023-2024 school year, Aspen Elementary School started at 8 a.m. and ended at 3 p.m. while the Aspen middle and high schools started at 8:45 a.m. and ended at 3:45 p.m.
Here is the full 2024-2025 calendar, which the Aspen School District Board of Education approved.
