    What's the story

Krutrim, an artificial intelligence venture led by Bhavish Aggarwal of Ola, has introduced a dedicated Android app for its AI chatbot. The chatbot is designed to compete with industry giants like OpenAI's ChatGPT, Microsoft's Copilot, and Google's Gemini. This move precedes the imminent launch of Krutrim's developer services, which will include cloud infrastructure and geolocation services via Ola Maps.

    Language support

    Over 10 languages are supported

The AI chatbot, initially released in a public beta version in February, is Krutrim's first product powered by its proprietary multilingual large language models (LLM). The chatbot can assist users in more than 10 Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Hinglish (a blend of Hindi and English), and English. Aggarwal's venture plans to extend support for 22 languages by 2024-end.

    Milestone

Journey to becoming India's first AI unicorn

Krutrim, introduced in December 2023, achieved the status of India's first AI unicorn earlier this year, after a $50 million funding round at a $1 billion valuation. The funding round was led by Matrix Partners India, who have previously backed Aggarwal's other ventures, including Ola Cabs and the soon-to-be-public Ola Electric.

    Usage

Krutrim's AI chatbot: A versatile content creation assistant

The newly launched mobile app serves as a chat assistant that aids users in creating content like emails, blog posts, messages, and social media posts. It can also provide responses to daily inquiries, updates on current news and trends, as well as information on various topics. Users of Ola's primary ride-hailing app have had access to Krutrim within the app, for some time.

    Developer services

    Krutrim's upcoming AI cloud services

Krutrim is set to unveil its AI cloud services named Krutrim Cloud. These services will provide developers and businesses with access to high-end GPU resources, expediting their projects and enhancing productivity. The platform will offer managed access to all prominent open-source AI models, including its own, hosted on the company's cloud infrastructure. Additionally, Ola Maps plans to provide geolocation services including mapping and location-based services to developers.
