Broadcom Enhances VMware Cloud Foundation Business with Business Simplification, Portfolio Innovation, and Ecosystem Standardization

Broadcom Inc. has introduced several updates to its VMware software portfolio and Broadcom Advantage Partner Program to drive faster innovation and enhanced value for customers while facilitating more opportunities and profitability for partners. These updates include simplifying the business model by transitioning to subscription licensing and per-core pricing, streamlining the VMware portfolio, and standardizing the ecosystem to deliver greater partner value.

Transitioning to a More Simplified Business Model Broadcom announced the transition of VMware Cloud Foundation from perpetual to subscription licensing, aligning with industry standards to fuel continuous innovation. Additionally, customers now benefit from subscription portability for VMware Cloud Foundation, enabling deployment flexibility across on-premises and hyperscale cloud environments. Google Cloud is the first to support this license portability.

Furthermore, Broadcom has streamlined the VMware portfolio to focus on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and VMware vSphere Foundation, offering enterprise-class private cloud solutions for business-critical applications and simplified workload solutions for smaller customers. The creation of the VMware Cloud Foundation division consolidates all core technologies under one organization to maximize customer value.

Portfolio Transformation: Driving Innovation In line with its business simplification efforts, Broadcom continues to drive innovation within VMware Cloud Foundation, introducing new releases and automation capabilities. The latest release, VMware Cloud Foundation 5.1.1, supports VMware Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA and introduces Solution Licensing to enhance VCF integration.

Broadcom has also introduced automation capabilities for data services, load balancing services, and private AI, enabling next-gen cloud-native and AI-powered applications across private and hybrid clouds. Additionally, integrated network operations capabilities offer improved visibility and performance insights for IT users.

Unified Ransomware and Disaster Recovery solutions, such as VMware Live Recovery, provide comprehensive protection against modern threats and disasters across on-premises and public clouds, with flexible licensing options to adapt to changing business needs.

Ecosystem Transformation: Standardization for a Better Experience Broadcom aims to promote VMware Cloud Foundation as the premier subscription-based private cloud solution, leveraging its partner ecosystem to facilitate customer transitions and adoption. The relaunched Broadcom Advantage Partner Program for VMware Cloud Service Providers (VCSPs) offers simplified pricing, improved margins, and richer benefits to drive growth and strengthen partner relationships.

As Broadcom celebrates over 100 days since acquiring VMware, CEO Hock Tan emphasizes the strategic importance of VMware Cloud Foundation as the platform for future innovation. VCF enables customers to achieve a highly efficient cloud operating model, combining public cloud scale and agility with private cloud security and resiliency at a lower cost of ownership compared to public cloud alternatives.
