Margao: Industrialist and chairman of the Dempo group of companies, Shrinivas Dempo, on Friday said that BJP South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo entered politics in order to widen the scope of their social work. He assured that, if elected, she will use the MPLADS (Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) funds for the deserving and needy people of the constituency.

“If necessary, we will even contribute our own funds for the cause. We have been always working all these years without any discrimination,” said Shrinivas, addressing a large gathering at the Daivadnya Samaj hall, Margao.

“I am not here to give a political speech. I’ve come here to give some clarifications on the false propaganda and also to give an assurance to the people that if Pallavi is elected, she will have her own MP office in addition to the party office and that she will meet the people twice a month at this office,” he said.

He also said that Pallavi will provide maximum benefits to the constituents through central schemes.

In response to the negative remarks directed at the BJP candidate, Shrinivas stated that even though Pallavi has been campaigning for 40 days, her patience level has remained constant throughout the day. He appealed to the people to vote for the BJP candidate to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Modi at the Centre.

“I have full faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is a workaholic. The entire population of the country is his family. I have experienced the PM’s working style when he was chief minister of Gujarat, and I was very impressed with his work.”

Margao MLA and former chief minister Digambar Kamat urged the gathering from Margao and peripheral areas to create history by electing Pallavi. “We should vote for Pallavi to create history by electing the first woman MP from South Goa,” he said. Kamat said that Modi, being a world leader, has the capability to take the nation forward.

Sonali Nagvekar, Pallavi’s college mate, said the BJP candidate for South Goa is highly intelligent and very humble. “We should all support her through our votes,” she said.

Pandurang ‘Bhai’ Naik urged the gathering to prioritise voting on May 7, as it will help Pallavi secure a maximum lead.
