Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.01%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Persistent Systems Ltd.(up 1.17 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 1.12 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.27 per cent) and MphasiS Ltd.(up 0.2 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Coforge Ltd.(down 2.31 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.09 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.44 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.43 per cent) and L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 0.36 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.01 per cent up at 33203.35.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 43.36 points at 22648.2, while the BSE Sensex stood up 128.33 points at 74611.11.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, South Indian Bnk and REC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Uravi T and Wedge, Pearl Polymers, Max Estates, Ram Ratna Wire and Amrutanjan Healt hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Adroit Infotech (PP), Kotak Bank, Future Supply Chain, Osia Hyper Retail and Gloster hit their fresh 52-week lows.
