Vasco: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that for the next 50 years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will rule in the state and at the Centre and so the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s dreams of becoming PM will never come true.
“He is a part-time politician, sometimes he is in India, sometimes he is in Thailand and nobody knows where he goes on other occasions,” said Sawant during a public meeting at Baina in Vasco while campaigning for the South Goa BJP candidate Pallavi Dempo.
Sawant said, “BJP is a secular party and it will never change the Constitution. It is Congress which creates communal tensions when elections come near. BJP has not differentiated in giving benefits of schemes. It has worked for human and infrastructure development.”
Sawant urged the people of wards 7, 8 and 9 of Mormugao Municipality, who are known to be Congress vote bank, to vote for the BJP.
“As you people have extended support to MLA Sankalp Amonkar, continue but remember that now he is a BJP MLA and you have to press the button of Lotus,” said Sawant. He said Amonkar “taking a risk” has joined BJP for the overall development of his constituency.
I her speech, Dempo said, “I will honestly work towards the development of the people of South Goa. I will take up issues of the people of Goa. I will have an office in Margao to meet my people and listen to them. Voting for me is like voting for Modi”
Referring to the presence of a large number of women for the meeting, she said “I see a lot of women at meetings and I truly believe that women are capable of doing everything that a man does. I believe in women empowerment.”
MLA Amonkar said, “One of the biggest threats to the people of this area is
demolition. I assure that I will safeguard the houses with the support of Sawant but I can ask that support only if people of Baina extend their wholehearted support to Modi.”
