Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 37.85 points to 22457.8 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Atal Realtech, Popular Vehicles and Gloster, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 25 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 25 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, SBI Life and ICICI Bank were among top gainers, while Apollo Hospital, HCL Tech, Shriram Finance, HDFC Life and M&M traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 272.98 points up at 74003.14 at 10:04AM(IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Sugar, Plastics, Telecommunications, Term Lending Institutions and Miscellaneous sectors, while selling was visible in Trading, Hospitals & Allied Services, Cement, Media & Entertainment and Cables sectors.
