Imagine a country where you can be murdered for your choice of sport. The idea is so appalling you might think it could only happen somewhere far away.

But less than three decades separate us from the murder of Seán Brown on May 12, 1997 in the South Derry village of Bellaghy, an hour and a half’s drive from the county GAA grounds of Louth, Donegal and Monaghan.
