    What's the story

The Beijing Motor Show 2024 witnessed the grand unveiling of the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class's Long Wheelbase (LWB) version. This model, currently available in select markets like China, is slated to make its debut in India later this year. Interestingly, India will be introduced to only the right-hand drive version of this luxury sedan. So, what to expect from the vehicle? Let's find out.

    Dimensions

    What about its dimensions?

The latest E-Class LWB model is larger than its predecessor, with a wheelbase that's 15mm longer, measuring 3,094mm. The width has been increased by 20mm to 1,880mm and the length by 17mm to a total of 5,092mm. However, it stands at a height of 1,493mm which is actually 2mm shorter than the previous model.

    Looks

The E-Class LWB gets a new design

The design of the new E-Class LWB closely mirrors that of the latest standard wheelbase E-Class, but with longer rear doors for easier access for rear passengers. A significant change is the repositioning of the rear quarter glass behind the rear door, rather than integrating it into the rear door and window. The China-specific model is equipped with Mercedes-Benz's 'Superscreen' setup, featuring three displays under a single glass panel on the dashboard.

    Powertrains

    What about its engine options?

While the China-specific E-Class LWB will feature a six-cylinder petrol engine line-up, Mercedes-Benz India is expected to retain its current powertrain options. These include a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine; a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder diesel mill; and a 3.0-liter, in-line six-cylinder diesel unit, all with some updates. Further details will be revealed as we approach the India launch of this luxury sedan.
