Stockport County fans were keen to remind Wrexham of their League Two champion status when the promotion rivals clashed on Saturday.

Both clubs were embroiled in a season-long battle to secure their spot in the third tier of English football for next season.

After losing the play-off final in the previous campaign, Stockport went one step further and sealed the title last week.

Wrexham finished second and secured back-to-back promotions, with the two sides playing each other on the final day of the season.

And the travelling Stockport fans in Wales were on hand to rub their league title success at their rival's own ground.

In an image posted on X, Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's faces were spotted on a homemade banner.

"You have only come to see the champions," it read, with another fan in the background seen holding an inflatable trophy.

There was also a plane that flew over the Racecourse Ground which had a banner that said: "SCFC CHAMPIONS AGAIN OLE OLE."

Wrexham went on to win the game 2-1 to avenge their 5-0 defeat from earlier in the season, capping off a great campaign overall.

Co-owner McElhenney showed his appreciation to fellow club staff for their efforts throughout a memorable season.
