Arne Slot has revealed that he'd like to become the new Liverpool manager amid their search for Jurgen Klopp's successor.

Klopp shockingly announced in January that he will be leaving the Reds after nearly nine successful years in charge at Anfield.

Various names have emerged as potential contenders since then, with Feyenoord boss Slot the latest to be linked.

Liverpool have opened talks with his current club over a deal to bring him to Anfield, and the Dutchman is keen on joining.

Speaking to ESPN per Fabrizio Romano, he said: “I’d like to become new Liverpool manager, my decision is clear.

“Feyenoord and Liverpool are in talks to negotiate, I’m waiting to see what will come out of it. I am confident, waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement."

Slot, who turned down Tottenham last summer, won the Eredivisie with Feyenoord last season and the KNVB Cup earlier in the current campaign.

The 45-year-old is eyed as one of the most highly-rated managers in Europe and now seems set on moving to Liverpool.

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, who used to play for the Reds, was quickly a frontrunner for the job amid Klopp's announcement.

However, his links with an Anfield return were eventually shut down when he committed his future to Leverkusen.
