    What's the story

MG Motor has showcased its first electric vehicle (EV) hypercar, the EXE181 concept, prior to its public debut at Auto China 2024. The event is scheduled to take place from April 25 to May 5. The design of the EXE181 concept, draws inspiration from the aerodynamically efficient EX181 land speed record car. The exterior features a sleek shell that encases a single-seat monocoque with minimalistic bodywork.

    Design

The EXE181's cockpit is designed to be aerodynamically efficient

The driver's seat of the EXE181 is situated within a central bubble, echoing the UFO-like design of its predecessor, the EX181. The cockpit's teardrop shape transitions into a sloping tail fin that protrudes from the car's body, functioning as an airbrake during high-speed deceleration. MG boasts that the EXE181 has an impressively low drag coefficient of just 0.181, highlighting its superior aerodynamic efficiency.

    Features

    Interiors and performance

The interior of the EXE181 concept car is equipped with a yoke-style steering wheel that incorporates an integrated touchscreen. While MG has not disclosed specific specifications, images suggest that four motors power the EXE181, one for each wheel. The company has revealed that this hypercar can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 1.9 seconds, indicating a power output exceeding 1,000hp.

    Performance

MG EXE181 concept could surpass 410km/h top speed

MG has not yet disclosed the top speed of the EXE181 concept, but hinted at it potentially surpassing the EX181's record-breaking top speed of 410km/h, set in 1957. The EXE181 is still in its conceptual stage, with production expected to take several years. Once launched, this EV hypercar will compete with models like the Rimac Nevera, Aspark Owl, and the upcoming next-generation Tesla Roadster.
