By Jitendra Tiwari

President of All India Officers Federation of IFFCO, Mr Jitendra Tiwari has mailed a piece to us on the unprecedented fertilizer revolution taking place in the fertilizer sector due to the emergence of Nano Urea on the scene. He thanked both the Prime Minister and Cooperation Minister for their thrust on Atma Nirbhar Bharat. Before concluding he applauded IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi for his Karmyogi spirit which made it possible to realize the PM’s vision. We reproduce his write up verbatim–Editor

Excerpts

It cannot be denied and it is also true that this unprecedented fertilizer revolution across the world was possible only with the support of the inclusive development vision of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.

This was possible only with the encouragement of Honorable Shri Amit Shah ji, Cooperative and Home Minister, who brought new momentum and vitality to the cooperative movement.

IFFCO’s product ‘Nano Urea’ is the first fertilizer approved by the Government of India which has given a new meaning to the agricultural revolution all over the world. It is a revolutionary agricultural input, which provides nitrogen to plants. It is a sustainable option for farmers to support smart agriculture and combat climate change.

IFFCO launched the world’s first Nano urea fertilizer in June 2021. It is the first Nano fertilizer approved by the Government of India and was included in the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO). Nitrogen, in this Nano urea, was 4 percent.

Now its name has also been changed by increasing Nitrogen five times to 20 percent. After this increased amount of Nitrogen, it has been named – Nano Urea Plus 20 percent. Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has prepared liquid Nano urea for the first time in the world.

This will increase the production of crops and increase the income of farmers. IFFCO and the Central Government are now promoting the use of Nano fertilizers in agriculture. The reason for this is the subsidy given on bagged fertilizer. The government’s debt of thousands of crores for fertilizer subsidy is increasing every year.

To overcome this, Nano Urea was, now, brought into the market. Not only this, Nano fertilizer is also considered better from environmental point of view. However, farmers are still more inclined towards bagged granular fertilizers.

To reduce this, Nano Urea Plus 20 percent product has now been prepared. Export of Nano Urea is a big step towards realizing the Prime Minister’s dream of ‘Sahkar Se Smridhi’ and ‘Atm Nirbhar Bharat.’

IFFCO took a big step towards promoting the use of Nano fertilizers across the country. Under this campaign, IFFCO purchased 2,500 agricultural drones and trained rural women to operate drones under the Namo Drone Didi programme.

The credit for this also goes to Honorable Shri Uday Shankar Awasthi ji, Managing Director of IFFCO, a Karmyogi in true sense, who is the source of energy for experimentation and new discoveries every day. It is the result of his efforts that today IFFCO is at the top among the cooperative institutions around the world.
