On Gerry Hutch’s birthday two years ago, US law enforcement agencies rolled into town.

Amid much fanfare and flanked by gardaí at Dublin’s City Hall, American police forces announced an unprecedented move against the Kinahan Organised Crime Group (KOCG). Rewards totalling $15m for information to help bring three key members of the Kinahan cartel to justice — Christy ­Kinahan Sr, the founder of the cartel, and his sons Daniel Kinahan and Christy Kinahan Jr — were on the table.
