Abarth unveils Classiche 1300 OT sports coupe celebrating 75 years
Abarth, the esteemed Italian car manufacturer, has unveiled a two-seater sports coupe, the Abarth Classiche 1300 OT. This launch marks the company's 75th anniversary. The new model is a 'modern reinterpretation' of the iconic 1965 Fiat-Abarth OT 1300 race car. The design of this vehicle draws inspiration from the successful 1000 SP special edition from last year, which was based on Alfa Romeo's 4C model.
Limited production of the coupe
Abarth has announced that only five units of the Abarth Classiche 1300 OT will be manufactured. This decision follows the overwhelming response to its previous special edition model, which "sold out in record time," according to the company. Production is set to commence soon after a scale model was displayed at Stellantis's Heritage Hub in Turin. Despite accepting international orders, Abarth has not yet disclosed any information regarding pricing.
A nod to vintage design
The limited edition model "retains the essence of an authentic Abarth," as stated by the company. It showcases custom carbon fiber bodywork with a vintage race livery and various design elements inspired by the 1960s. Notable features include a roof-mounted 'periscope' intake, a louvered rear window, and a full-width engine cooling vent on the rear, adorned with large Abarth lettering to "emphasize the bond with the historic design."
What about its performance?
Under its hood, the Classiche 1300 OT houses a robust 243hp, 1.7-liter, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine. This is the same mill that powered the Alfa Romeo 4C to accelerate from a standstill to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 257km/h. However, Abarth has not yet disclosed any specifics about the OT's performance capabilities or any modifications made to the chassis.
