The fight broke out when the suspects, identified as Himanshu Tiwari and Babar, allegedly interrupted the debate with anti-BJP slogans and derogatory comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Anand Raj, the officer in charge at Kotwali police station, they also hurled a chair at Prafull Dwivedi, who heads the BJP's district media cell. Some local officials interfered to support Dwivedi, resulting in a brawl, according to the official.
