In March, Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reported a total of 1,067,674 passengers. Abdullah Al-Rajhei, the Acting Director General for Aviation Safety and Air Transport Affairs at DGCA, in a press statement noted an 8% reduction in passenger traffic at Kuwait International Airport compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, the airport recorded a 7% increase in the number of flights and a significant 14% rise in air cargo volume over the same period.
Throughout the month, Kuwait International Airport handled 9,950 flights, an increase from the previous year’s 9,283 flights. The top travel destinations included Jeddah, Dubai, Cairo, Dhaka, and Doha.
In a major development in September 2023, Kuwait commissioned Türkiye’s Limak with a $764.87 million contract for the construction of a part of the new terminal at Kuwait airport. Limak’s role will encompass the creation of aircraft parking aprons, taxiways, and service buildings.
