McWhorter: Preaching what they don’t practice

Since 2020, we have been inundated with various narratives, which help draw distinct lines for each side:

COVID: get the vaccine, or you are an anti-vaxxer.

Ukraine: support Ukraine, or you are pro-Putin.

LGBTQ+: support trans, or you are a bigot.

Israel: support Israel, or you are an anti-semite.

Immigrants: support unfiltered, unlimited immigration, or you are a racist.

The problem here with the narrative preachers is they rarely will act on what they preach.

Case and point: I don’t see people of Carbondale opening their homes in droves to house immigrants, nor do I see the pro-Ukraine or pro-Israel crowd rushing to recruiting stations to go fight on the front lines.
