Bayer Leverkusen shattered a record previously held by Premier League-winning manager Antonio Conte as they reached the Europa League semi finals.

Xabi Alonso's side overcame West Ham 3-1 on aggregate, holding the Irons to a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium in the second leg of their quarter final tie after winning the first leg 2-0 in Leverkusen.

Manchester United target Jeremie Frimpong scored a late equaliser to cancel out Michail Antonio's 13th-minute opener, meaning the German outfit are still yet to be beaten this season.

The result took the recent Bundesliga champions' unbeaten run in all competitions to 44 games, a new record for a team in Europe's top five leagues.

Juventus previously boasted the longest undefeated streak, going 43 matches without loss in their 2011/12 Serie A campaign as they lifted the league title under the leadership of former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Antonio Conte.

This is the latest unprecedented achievement for Alonso's men this term, who secured a first-ever Bundesliga title with a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen in their last match.
