Review: La Pink's Vitamin C Sunscreen SPF 50

    What's the story

Summertime is all fun and games until the intense heat damages our skin. That's when sunscreens, which protect us from harmful UVA/UVB rays, show to be an invaluable addition to one's daily skincare routine. I recently chanced upon La Pink's Vitamin C Sunscreen SPF 50, which claims to offer broad-spectrum protection and strong hydration. Did it work as expected? Well, read my review!

    About

    What constitutes this sunscreen?

La Pink's Vitamin C Sunscreen SPF 50 is packed with the goodness of Kakadu plums, blueberries, raspberries, white haldi, chia seeds, licorice, and carrot seed oil. All these ingredients are known to offer hydration and protection, leaving your skin revitalized. Additionally, it is a 100% microplastic-free formulation and happens to be suitable for all skin types including dry, oily, dull, combination, sensitive, and normal.

    Key features

    Features that make it special

This sunscreen comes with a PA index (protection grade of UVA/HEV) of a staggering 98% (PA++++), offering an impeccable defence against UVA rays. For the uninitiated, UVA/HEV rays trigger premature aging, oxidative stress, and skin cancer risks. Hence, this sunscreen dawns many hats. On the sidelines, its formulation also offers an instant glow and moisture, while the vitamin C in it enhances collagen production.

    Application

The correct way to apply this sunscreen

I took some amount of this sunscreen (quantifiably, about the size of a golf ball) on my palm and applied it to all the exposed parts of my skin including the face, ears, neck, arms, hands, and feet. Rub it well to ensure the formulation penetrates deeper into your skin. Do a patch test before applying.

    The good part

Here's how I felt post application

This sunscreen is mildly fragrant and quite smooth, non-greasy, and lightweight on the skin. Upon application, I saw my dull spots vanish in no time. Also, no white caste is a bonus! On stepping out, I didn't have any burning or irritation on my skin, unlike what I typically experienced. Suprisingly, my face retained glow even after spending hours outside in the sun.

    Improvements

    What could be better?

The packaging of this sunscreen from La Pink is fancy and premium, however, if it quickens its utility is perhaps debatable. It took me a little while to pry up the plastic lid from the top, so I ended up opening the cap entirely. Also, it misses out on being water-resistent, so it can eventually wear off with exposure to water or sweat.

    Verdict

Is La Pink's sunscreen a yay or a nay?

It's safe to say that La Pink's Vitamin C Sunscreen SPF 50 has been a useful addition to my daily skincare. No other sunscreen has ever felt better. Although one may deem paying Rs. 695 for a 50-gram bottle too much of an ask, it's totally bang for the buck considering its skin-friendly formulation. Go for it without a second thought.
