Curchorem: Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar on Thursday said that at 16,000 women outnumber men in the constituency and called on them to ensure BJP South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo’s success.
Dempo was on her second tour of the constituency along with Gaonkar, NRI Commissioner Narendra Sawaikar, mandal president Vilas Dessai, Sanvordem sarpanch Chinmayi Naik, South Goa ZP chairman Suvarna Tendulkar, and panch members, among others.
Addressing a corner meeting at Tony Nagar in Sanvordem, Gaonkar asked people to elect Dempo as the South Goa MP and strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to win a third term as PM.
“Later, we can raise our local issues through our MP,” he said.
Dempo visited Kalay, Colem, Dabal Kirlapal, and Sanvordem.
Sawaikar said that central funds were very important for the development of the state. “In order to get the Centre’s blessings, we must get both BJP MPs from our state elected,” he said.
“I have been in the social and educational field for the past 26 years,” said Dempo.
The Dempo Charities Trust runs three higher secondary schools and two colleges. In 2016, it adopted eight high schools that have made spectacular progress. The Dempo Sports Club has also produced renowned sports people.
