    Veteran batter Rohit Sharma has continued to make his presence felt in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 season by adding one record after the other. In his 250th appearance in the cash-rich league, the Mumbai Indians legend has surpassed the 6,500-run mark in the competition. Rohit came into the contest against the Punjab Kings in Match 33 needing 28 runs. Here's more.

    Rohit struck a 25-ball 36 versus the Kings. He smashed two fours and three sixes. Sam Curran got his wicket. The veteran batter added a solid 81-run stand alongside Suryakumar Yadav for the second wicket.

    In 250 IPL matches, Rohit owns 6,508 at an average of 30.12. He has two tons and 42 fifties with a strike rate worth 131.82. Rohit represented the now-defunct Deccan Chargers in the first three IPL seasons (2008-2010). Rohit slammed 1,170 runs from 45 matches at 30.78 for the Chargers. For MI, he owns 5,338 runs at 29.98.

    Rohit became just the second player to reach 250 IPL matches after Mahendra Singh Dhoni (256). Rohit's tally of 6,508 IPL runs is the fourth-most for any batter. He is only behind Virat Kohli (7,624), Shikhar Dhawan (6,769), and David Warner (6,563). Rohit also owns the second-most sixes in IPL (275). He is only behind Chris Gayle (357).

    Rohit breaks Pollard's record for MI

    Playing his 205th IPL game for MI, Rohit has now raced to 224 maximums, surpassing Kieron Pollard's tally of 223. Rohit needed three sixes to reach the landmark. Hardik Pandya (104) and Ishan Kishan (103) are the only other batters with 100-plus sixes for MI.

    In the previous match between MI and CSK, Rohit became the first batter for the former to slam multiple IPL tons. Rohit also overtook veteran batter Suresh Raina to become the leading run-scorer in MI-CSK IPL matches. He also became the first player to complete 5,500 runs for MI. Rohit also became the first Indian to complete 500 sixes in T20 cricket.
