    What's the story

Alia Bhatt has added one more feather to her hat and has been honored on TIME magazine's "100 Most Influential People of 2024" list. Bhatt, since her 2012 debut Student of the Year, has been steadily establishing herself as a top-tier actor through her commercially successful roles and widespread popularity.

Tom Harper penned tribute for Bhatt in magazine

Tom Harper, director of Bhatt's first Hollywood film, Heart of Stone, wrote paeans about her in the magazine. "She is not only one of the world's leading actors, admired for her work in the Indian film industry for over a decade—she is also a businesswoman and a philanthropist who leads with integrity." "Alia's superpower is her ability to mix movie-star magnetism with authenticity and sensitivity." He also called her "luminous."

    Dev Patel

Indian-origin actor Dev Patel earned a spot on the TIME 100 list following his directorial debut with Monkey Man. Daniel Kaluuya, Patel's co-star from the British teen drama Skins, penned a heartfelt tribute reflecting on their shared experiences. Kaluuya wrote, "His humanity shines through every time he graces the screen, leaving you no choice but to root for him even when his character is doing something foul; his presence makes you understand where he's coming from."

Other notable public figures on the list

Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik also made it to the list. Her profile piece was written by filmmaker Nisha Pahuja who praised her grit and strength and the protest against Brij Bhushan Singh, the erstwhile President of the Wrestling Federation of India. Other notable celebrities included in the list are Mark Cuban, Dua Lipa, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Elliot Page, Sofia Coppola, Hayao Miyazaki, and Jigar Shah, among others. Separately, Bhatt will next be seen in Vasan Bala's Jigra. Vedang Raina co-stars.
