Singapore-headquartered Seatrium Ltd. has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Shell Global Solutions International BV to strengthen collaboration in floating production systems by leveraging their engineering technologies, Seatrium said
The MOU, which focuses on driving project standardization and replication, seeks to promote best practices in the design and construction of floating production systems, Seatrium said in a press release.
Seatrium and Shell have collaborated on several projects over the years, including the recently announced Sparta floating production unit (FPU). This project is designed to be replicable, utilizing Seatrium's topsides single lift integration methodology, following the fabrication of the Vito and Whale FPU newbuilds in 2021 and 2023, respectively, Seatrium said.
“We are pleased to deepen our collaboration with Shell, leveraging both parties’ competencies and technologies in past Floating Production Systems projects. We look forward to continuing working with Shell to mutually learn and develop best-in-class project management practices to achieve operational efficiency in future floater projects, benefitting both parties”, Executive Vice President of Seatrium Oil & Gas (International) William Gu said.
In other company development, Seatrium said earlier it has secured a series of major contracts with an aggregate value of $257.2 million (SGD 350 million), to be completed by the end of 2025. The contracts include upgrades and conversions of floating storage regasification units, life-extension and remediation works for floating production systems, repairs of LNG carriers, repairs and refurbishments of cruise ships, and offshore and naval works, Seatrium said.
