Cohesity Strengthens Cyber Resilience with IBM Partnership Investment

Cohesity Bolsters Cyber Resilience with IBM Collaboration Cohesity has strengthened its partnership with IBM to advance the development of key capabilities aimed at improving data security and resilience across hybrid cloud environments. This collaboration follows Cohesity’s Series F financing round and sees IBM joining NVIDIA as a strategic investor.

In response to the escalating threat of data breaches, highlighted by the recent Cost of a Data Breach report supported by IBM Security, which revealed a 15% increase in global average breach costs, IBM has integrated Cohesity’s capabilities into its cyber resilience platform, IBM Storage Defender. This integration enhances customers’ ability to recover from cyber-attacks effectively.

Sanjay Poonen, CEO and President of Cohesity, emphasized IBM’s extensive experience in the enterprise cloud and IT infrastructure market and its investment in Cohesity’s research and development efforts to bolster cyber resilience. Through this collaboration, both companies aim to swiftly detect threats and maintain business operations during attacks.

Ric Lewis, Senior Vice President of Infrastructure at IBM, highlighted the collaboration’s goal of delivering end-to-end software-defined solutions to enhance cyber resilience and prevent business disruptions.

The integration of Cohesity DataProtect with IBM’s Storage Defender Solution allows joint customers to protect, monitor, manage, and recover their data effectively. Cohesity DataProtect, renowned for its security features, offers policy-based protection for various data sources, including cloud-native, SaaS, and traditional systems.

IBM Storage Defender employs AI and event monitoring to safeguard data layers across different storage platforms, mitigating threats such as ransomware and human error. Future enhancements to IBM Storage Defender, including cyber vault and clean room functionalities, will provide automated recovery capabilities, expediting critical data restoration within hours or minutes.
