Many kudos to Olin Rose-Bardawil for writing a column in which he (sadly) documents many excellent examples showing how corporate financial interests hijack and seriously undermine the very necessary regulatory functions of our government agencies, which exist to protect our safety [“‘Corporate capture’ a grave threat to citizens,” Gazette, April 12].

An added important example of the dangers of corporate greed (not mentioned by Mr. Rose-Bardawil), is that of Boeing being allowed to attest to the safety of their own planes rather than the FAA, resulting in two recent fatal crashes of Boeing M737 Max planes as reported in The New York Times.

Safety deregulations are the proverbial example of foxes being mandated to protect chicken coops.
