The Basalt High School baseball team bounced back from a rough weekend by winning Tuesday at Moffat County, 17-2. The Longhorns hosted still undefeated Coal Ridge for a pair of games in Basalt on Saturday, losing by scores of 9-3 and 11-2. The Titans moved from No. 6 to No. 3 in Class 3A this week in the latest CHSAANow.com poll.
Basalt improved to 3-7 overall after beating the Bulldogs (1-11). BHS is scheduled to play again Wednesday at Forge Christian before a Friday trip to Gunnison.
Aspen baseball played Tuesday at Roaring Fork, losing 8-2 to the Rams. The loss snapped a three-game win streak for the Skiers, who swept two games from Moffat County on Saturday, 14-4 and 19-4.
AHS, now 4-4 overall, next plays Thursday at Rangely. Roaring Fork, now 6-8 and on a four-game win streak, plays Saturday at Delta.

Aspen girls soccer got back in the win column Tuesday with a 6-0 victory at Colorado Rocky Mountain School in Carbondale. Manitou Springs is ranked No. 4 in Class 3A this week, while Ponderosa plays in a higher classification.
Basalt girls soccer hosted Middle Park on Monday, winning 3-2 for its second straight victory.
Now 3-6 overall, the Longhorns next host Aspen (3-5-1) on Thursday, in Basalt. Varsity is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. It’s the only time the two teams will play in the regular season.
Roaring Fork soccer (5-3-1) lost Monday at Grand Junction, 2-1. The Rams, ranked No. 10 in 3A this week, play at Manitou Springs on Friday.
Boys lacrosse
Aspen boys lacrosse recorded one of its bigger wins of the season on Tuesday, beating Eagle Valley 11-5 in Gypsum. The Skiers, now 4-6 overall, lost to Eagle Valley as recently as April 9 in Aspen, falling 7-5 that day.
With two wins in its last three outings, Aspen will look to keep the momentum going with a visit from Battle Mountain coming up Friday night. The Huskies are ranked No. 2 in 4A this week — only top-ranked Cheyenne Mountain is higher — although they did lose for the first time this season on Monday, falling 14-9 at No. 7 Vail Mountain.
Girls lacrosse
Aspen girls lacrosse bounced back from last week’s loss at Roaring Fork with a 19-5 home win over winless Eagle Valley on Tuesday. The Skiers also beat the Devils on April 9 in Gypsum, 19-7. AHS, ranked No. 10 in 4A this week, improved to 6-3 overall.
The Roaring Fork girls lacrosse team played Monday at Battle Mountain, losing 15-10 for its second straight loss. The Huskies are ranked No. 3 in 4A this week and are now 10-0 on the season and will host Aspen on Thursday.
The Rams are now 4-4 overall. They lost their first two games of the season before winning four straight, including last week’s win over Aspen. A loss at Castle View over the weekend ended that streak.
Next up, RFHS will host Fruita Monument (4-2) on Thursday.
