CCTV footage

In the initial investigation, authorities faced challenges in identifying the suspects involved in the shooting outside Salman Khan's residence. CCTV footage provided limited visibility of the perpetrators' faces and obscured their bike's number plate. The drive-by nature of the shooting further complicated matters, as both riders were observed wearing helmets, hindering identification efforts. Despite these obstacles, the Bandra police proceeded to file an FIR against the unidentified individuals, relying on witness statements from those who heard the gunshots. Additionally, a two-wheeler believed to be connected to the incident was discovered in close proximity to the actor's home, adding another layer of intrigue to the ongoing investigation.

Salim Khan's reaction

In response to the incident, Salman Khan's father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, expressed concern for his son's safety and called for a thorough investigation into the matter. The noted screenwriter went for a walk after the incident. ETimes quoted a source as saying, “Salim Khan is not perturbed at all and carried out his routine as always. The family is very cautious and careful. Salman Khan is safe and sound and is with them.”

Reactions

Reacting to the news of firing outside Salman’s home, Pooja Bhatt wrote on X, “Horrific and condemnable. If this can happen with a police van parked outside the Khan residence for protection then it is fair to say that safety is an illusion. Need more stringent surveillance in Bandra for certain. Robberies were rife a while ago and now a shoot out? Scary.”

Following the alarming incident, a flurry of activity ensued as family members and prominent figures rushed to offer support and solidarity. Arbaaz Khan, Sshura Khan, Sohail Khan, Aayush Sharma, Arpita Khan, and filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar were among the first to arrive at Salman's home, expressing concern for his safety. Additionally, political figures including Raj Thackrey, Rahul Kanal, and Baba Siddiqui were photographed visiting the actor's residence, further underscoring the gravity of the situation. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reached out to Salman Khan via phone to offer reassurance and support during this challenging time. Meanwhile, NCP-SCP leader Supriya Sule condemned the incident, labeling it as a 'complete failure of the Home Ministry' and emphasising the need for swift and decisive action to ensure the safety of citizens.

Anmol Bishnoi's message

An alleged claim of responsibility for the shooting incident outside Salman Khan's residence surfaced in a Facebook post attributed to Anmol Bishnoi. Anmol, who is also a suspect in the murder case involving Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, purportedly penned the post in Hindi, expressing a desire for peace but warning of potential consequences if met with oppression. In the post, Anmol addressed Salman Khan directly, cautioning him against underestimating their strength and invoking the names of two pet dogs allegedly named after notorious underworld figures, Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel. The post concluded with the phrase "Jai Shri Ram," signaling a sense of religious fervour. However, the authenticity of the post and Anmol's alleged involvement in the shooting are subject to ongoing investigation by authorities.

CBI takes over

The Mumbai Crime Branch has assumed control of the case, deploying over 10 teams to conduct a thorough investigation. Fresh images purportedly captured from a new CCTV footage, believed to depict the two assailants, have surfaced online, though the police are yet to authenticate these claims. However, authorities did confirm to the press that one of the assailants is suspected to hail from Gurugram, adding a new dimension to the ongoing probe.
