Man found dead at house in Naas named locally, while gardaí continue to question another man

A man who was found dead at a house in Naas on Sunday afternoon has been named locally.
Neighbours expressed shock after the man was arrested following the discovery of a body in Naas, Co Kildare, on Sunday afternoon.
Gardaí are investigating after the body of a man was discovered at about 1.30pm at a residence in Eustace Demesne in Naas.
The dead man was this afternoon named as Shane Knott (36).
Specialist gardaí were this morning carrying out detailed searches in and around the property, including examining waste bins.
Mr Knott’s body has since been removed to the Mortuary at Naas General Hospital.
The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination is expected to take place on Monday, the results of which will determine the course of the garda investigation.
A man, aged in his 40s, has been arrested as part of this investigation and he is currently being detained at a garda station in County Kildare under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The scene remained sealed off by gardaí this morning, and members of the garda technical bureau arrived to carry out a forensic examination.
Gardaí searched bins all through the estate and carried out house to house enquiries.
Neighbours in the quiet estate on the outskirts of Naas town said they were shocked to learn of the news of the supicious death of the man.
One neighbour said first they learned that there was something wrong was when gardai arrived at around 1.30pm yesterday and gained access to the house.
It then became apparent that a search of the back garden had taken place, and later they saw a man being taken away in a garda car at around 7.30pm.
“We didn’t see or hear anything suspicious before that. It was all quite a shock,” said one neighbour.
