Road and sidewalk construction work on Ski Time Square Drive is scheduled to begin later this month following the closure of the Steamboat Ski Resort April 21.

In a press release on Monday, the city of Steamboat Springs said the work will “formalize” Ski Time Square Drive and upgrade the streetscape with new snowmelt sidewalks, enhanced landscaping and the construction of a new public turnaround at the road’s ending with the public right of way.

The city said initial work will be concentrated on deep and shallow utilities, which will last through the month of June. During construction there will be no on-street parking available along Ski Time Square Drive.

The Torian Plum parking garage will be available for those wishing to access businesses and residential units in the area, and the city said access to properties surrounding the construction area will remain available — but motorists should expect delays when traveling through the work zone.

Native Excavating is the local contractor hired to perform the work and the city said the company will prepare this week before beginning construction activities next week.

The project is designed by Steamboat-based Baseline Engineering and funded by the Steamboat Springs Redevelopment Authority.

Westminster-based JG Hanson Construction Management is filling the role of construction manager.

The city said it would host once-every-other-week informational meetings inside the Torian Plum Creekside meeting room beginning on April 25.

The meetings will also be accessible online using a link on the project’s website: EngageSteamboat.net/SkiTime.
