A style rule that I live by is this: When in doubt, just reach for a matching set. It takes the guesswork out of everything—you don't have to wonder whether the pieces of your outfit coordinate through color or texture or silhouette. Honestly, a good matching just makes getting dressed damn easy, and you look put-together with no effort or discerning eye needed on your end. Still need convincing? Just look at Travis Kelce, king of the co-ord.

Last September, Kelce made headlines when he wore a matching KidSuper denim set (cheekily dubbed the '1989' set by the designer), sporting head-to-toe dove print. Less than a month later, during date night with GF Taylor Swift (ever heard of her?), he pulled out the same strategy for getting dressed, this time with a baggy, creamy corduroy look. And just last Friday, while at the infamously celebrity-ridden Sushi Park in Los Angeles, Kelce was spotted with Swift wearing a matching sweater and shorts set from NYC-based brand Ser.o.ya.

This is the perfect outfit, and I'll tell you why. It's casual, but not overly so; the ribbed sweater with a contrasting trim on the hem, cuffs, and neck add some detail and dimension, as do the cargo pockets on the drawstring shorts. It's as comfortable as wearing a sweatshirt and gym shorts, but way more presentable for date night at a restaurant where plates are allegedly $400 per person.

Also, leave it to Kelce to rock a sick look from a fresh, new designer. Ser.o.ya has only been around since 2020, but the brand excels in making luxe basics that are wearable for the every day—and if we're taking cues from Travis Kelce (which we definitely are), sweater shorts are definitely on the table for date night now, but only if they're done like this.
