    What's the story

The promotional track for the upcoming horror-comedy film, Aranmanai 4, titled Achacho, was released on Sunday, coinciding with the Tamil New Year. The song features lead actors Tamannaah Bhatia and Raashii Khanna showcasing their stunning dance skills. Hiphop Tamizha composed the upbeat tune, while Vignesh Srikanth penned the lyrics and Kharesma Ravichandran provided the vocals. Directed by Sundar C, the film's release date was also announced: April 26.

    Context

    Why does this story matter?

Aranmanai 4 is the latest installment in the popular horror-comedy series Aranmanai. The film will also be released in Telugu under the title Baak, named after a ghost character in the movie. Notable actors such as Vennela Kishore, Srinivasalu, Delhi Ganesh, and Kovai Sarala play significant roles. The film is jointly produced by Sundar and ACS Arun Kumar under Avni Cinemax P Ltd., with Asian Suresh Entertainment LLP overseeing its release in Telugu-speaking regions.

'Achacho' also released in Telugu as 'Panchuko'

Achacho also has a Telugu version titled Panchuko, featuring vocals by Raghavi and lyrics by Sahithi. In both versions, actors Bhatia and Khanna are seen performing hip-hop and afro dance moves. In a notable departure from his previous roles in the franchise, Sundarwill be playing the lead role in Aranmanai 4. The director-turned-actor—who was previously seen in supporting characters—is now stepping into the spotlight. He has been actively promoting the film ahead of its premiere.

    Plot

    Refresher on 'Aranmanai' film series

The Tamil-language horror comedy film series began with Aranmanai in 2014, followed by Aranmanai 2 in 2016, and Aranmanai 3 in 2021. Notably, Sundar, Hansika Motwani, Manobala, and Chitra Lakshmanan—who appeared in the first film—reprised their roles in the second movie and also appeared in the third installment—portraying different characters each time. With all the films proving successful at the box office, they contributed to the ongoing popularity of the comedy-horror genre in Kollywood, which began with Chandramukhi in 2005.
