Vasco: Geno FC squandered a two-goal lead to a 2-2 draw with Chrurchill Brothers in the Goa Professional League at Tilak Maidan, Vasco on Sunday.
Geno FC moved to the fifth position in the GFA Professional League with 38 points from twenty-three matches whole Churchill Brothers remained at ninth position with 28 point from twenty-one matches.
Suraj Gurung headed Geno FC in front early on, capitalizing on a Chaitan cross while Jachi doubled their advantage just before halftime.
Janio Fernandes found the breakthrough for Churchill Brothers and an own goal restored parity and ensured points to be shared.
In the first half Geno FC got the upper hand as Suraj Gurung headed the ball in the back of the net from a Chaitan Komarpant’s cross.
Geno FC’s Gautam Dias put a through ball to Jachi who netted it in giving them a two goal advantage in the 40th minute. The first half ended 2-0 in favor of Geno FC.
In the second half Churchill Brothers came with a renewed purpose and created many chances. to find the back of the net. Janio Fernandes pulled one back for Churchill Brothers as he headed it in from a Jobern’s corner in the 62nd minute.
Churchill Brothers continued to press and their persistence paid off in the 84th minute when a scramble in the box led to a Geno FC own goal, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.
