Navelim: Young forward Anni delivered a dazzling performance, scoring a first-half hat-trick and finishing with five goals as Dempo SC demolished MBBS Sports and Cultural Club in the Dream Sports Championship Goa Regional round at the Rosary College grounds in Navelim. Eight of Anni’s teammates also contributed goals in the dominant 14-goal victory.

Dempo Sports Club skipper Nash Fernandes broke the deadlock in the 13th minute, but Anni quickly took center stage with strikes in the 20th, 28th, and 40th minutes. The hungry striker wasn’t finished, adding two more goals in the 58th and 59th minutes.

Substitute Nigel Viegas netted a brace, while Tanmay Kumar, Krutik Gaikwad, Kayden Mansley Faleiro, Ashon Vaz, Mohit Surlikar, and Tejas Arun Kamat each secured a goal apiece.

In Sunday’s other match, FC Goa’s U17 team played to a scoreless draw against Belgaum United Football Academy.

This result sets up a crucial clash for FC Goa against SESA Football Academy on April 16th, where a win is essential for their hopes of progressing.
