'Beloved husband, father and grandfather'

CANTON – Frank J. Basil, 72, entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Joyce (Marino) Basil, who passed away in 2021.

Frank was born in Waterbury on Aug. 1, 1951, a son of the late Michael T. and Margaret (Boyle) Basil. He graduated from Wilby High School, class of 1969.

He attended trade school to become a hair stylist. He started his career in the beauty industry at Richards Barber Shop on Willow Street. He went on to successfully co-own the Hair Connection and later his own salon, Frank’s Hair Dynamics, for 15 years. His last position was with Images of Beauty until his retirement.

He and Joyce lived in Winsted from 1988 to 2020, when they settled to Canton. Frank loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren, whom he loved and adored.

Frank leaves to honor and cherish his memory two sons, Jason D. Basil and his wife Christine, of Templeton, Mass., and Marc D. Basil and his wife Alexandra, of Southbury; a brother, Donald E. Basil and his wife Mary, of Waterbury; a sister, Linda Branscum of Sandusky, Ohio; a half-brother, Michael Basil and his wife Diane, of Thomaston; five grandchildren, Sophia, Olivia, Matthew, Luca, and Josie Basil; two sisters-in-law, Diana Garafalo and her husband Alfred, of Waterbury, and Marlene Lorusso and her husband Tony, of Southington; a brother-in-law, Joe Marino and his wife Donna of Waterbury; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife Joyce, he was predeceased by a brother, James V. Basil.

The family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff of Cherry Brook Health Care Center for the exceptional care and comfort given to Frank during his stay.

Funeral will be Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 9:15 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hour will be Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
