WATERBURY – Antonia Rinaldi, 91, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully April 13, 2024, at Apple Rehabilitation in Watertown, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving widow of Pietro Rinaldi.
Antonia was born Aug. 24, 1932 in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy, a daughter of the late Libero and Italia (Rinaldi) Polletta. She and her son settled to Waterbury to join her husband and son in December of 1972.
Antonia worked at Waterbury Under Garment 25 years until her retirement in 1997. She enjoyed cooking, tending to the garden, family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Antonia leaves to honor and cherish her memory her sons, Victor Rinaldi and his wife Rita, of Thomaston, and Giuseppe Rinaldi and his wife Ninetta, of Waterbury; five grandchildren, Victor Nicholas Rinaldi and his wife Nicole, Christopher Anthony Rinaldi and his wife Natalie, Robyn Rinaldi, Joseph Rinaldi and Emily Banagis, and Gabriella Rinaldi; and six great-grandchildren, Andrew Nicholas Rinaldi, Samantha M. Rinaldi, Lucca Rinaldi, Sofia Rinaldi, Kayden Rinaldi and Myla Rinaldi.
Besides her husband, Antonia was predeceased by her brother, Giuseppe Polletta.
The family would like to sincerely thank AccentCare Hospice for the comfort and compassion given to Antonia during her last few days, her aide Tiffany, for five years of dedicated care, and Apple Rehabilitation for their care.
Funeral Wednesday, 9:15 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to Our Lady of Loreto Church to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Calvary Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Calling hour Wednesday morning from 8 to 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
